I guess this is the spot for new member introductions. I was on the other group, but admittedly didn't participate much. I really like this forum format.
My grandmother's lines trace directly back to Carini and to the city of Palermo...so I am truly grateful for all that Jim has done to make these marvelous records available for research online and so easily accessible. Truly an answer to prayers! My grandfather's side comes from Trappeto, Palermo, Sicily not too far away from Carini. I've had the opportunity to travel to Italy to do research and visit with relatives and hope to go back soon. What a great experience to walk were my ancestors walked.
A little more about me:
Suzanne Russo Adams, Accredited Genealogist® specializes in Italian research. She is a Brigham Young University graduate with degrees in sociology and family history/genealogy. Suzanne currently works as the Professional Services Desk Manager for Ancestry.com, The Generations Network (formerly MyFamily.com, Inc.) and previously worked in both Electronic Production and Content Acquisition for more than eight years at Ancestry.com. She currently serves on the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) Board and Utah Genealogical Association (UGA) Board. Suzanne is also currently pursuing a Master’s degree in European History from BYU.
My Master's Thesis is actually about Carini and I hope to finish it sometime this year. It has been difficult because I work full time and just finished a book entitled "Finding Your Italian Ancestors". This is a beginner's guide to Italian research that will be published sometime by the middle of 2008 through Ancestry Publishing. I also just had my first child in September 2007...what a joy to have...but being a mom is a lot of work, too!
Anyway, glad to be a part of this group!
