Interesting web-site. Didn't know threre were so many of us around the world!! Glad to have found you. I was born there in 59' and came to the US in 69'. Been here since, though go back every couple of yrs. or so. I think I found my grandfather's name on the arrivals by ship link you provide. I have to ask my mother if the info. is correct, but according to what I've been told, I believe it is him. My maiden name is Sgroi and my mother's is Randazzo, so I'm 100% Carinese. My father was born in Villagrazia di Carini. Still has family there, so does my mother, but most of her family has been in the states for decades now. I teach Italian at Florida International University in Miami, FL. I'd be glad to talk with anyone out there about my background and / or any info. I may be able to contribute about Sicily / Italy.
PIACERE!!!!!

My mother was also a Sgroi from Carini.
Her father's name was Rosolino,From what I remember Rosolino had two brothers ,Giuseppe and Angelo and also one sister.
Any connection?
P.S. My sister has also been a language teacher in MSU at St. louis and has a web site named
(classical tours)
Roy.
