Croce Monterosso was from Carini (Jim has already sent me a wonderful full ancestry chart for Croce) thank you!

Croce Monterosso married Guiseppina Cassera possibly in Palermo

Gusippina's mother was Olympia Conigliaro

Rosa, there is a notation on the Baptismal Act of Croce which states he married Giuseppa Cassera on April 8, 1923. I do not have the records for that time period on my website, but just because the date is there does not mean the marriage occurred in Carini. It could be Palermo as you suspect, but at least now you have the exact date to work with.

Just as a point of information...

I found Olimpia Conigliaro coming to the USA 14 February 1930 to her daughter Josephine Monterosso. It states she was born in Carini about 1860 and had a brother named Vincenzo Conigliaro living there (in 1930).

I found her baptism:

Olimpia Conigliaro, baptized 30 July 1860, daughter Andrea Conigliaro & Crocefissa Morici.

I also found her brother Vincenzo's Baptism 10 January 1869.


*The problem is* that this Olimpia Conigliaro was married in Carini in 1881 to Vincenzo Mannino. I believe her Cassera marriage was her second. Given her age at Giuseppa's birth (42) I believe this is likely. I find a Vincenzo Mannino dieing in Carini in the index but I do not have those pages up (just the index)....

I'll get more on this family tonight for you (I am at work).

It is not apparent at this point what the given name of Olimpia Conigliaro's husband (Cassera) was. I would suspect they married in Palermo or outside Carini.

That is so helpful, we were aware that Olympia had a second married just didn't have details so this helps so much. I'll sit and sort it out later today. I look forward to seeing what else you might have on them.

Hi Jim,
OK, I've had a chance to look over the info you found and it makes sense. We knew that Josephine had a half brother named Andrea Mannino and that Josephine's name was Cassera. so, Olympia was first married to Mannino had a son Andrea then married Cassera and had Josephine!

This is so wonderful!

Now tell me do you know if Vincenzo Mannino had any siblings because there were Mannino's in the neighborhood that my mother in law was told were cousins but we don't know exactly how.
