Hi, I'm currently researching my Badalamenti line. I haven't gotten to the 18th century yet with this name, though I just noticed the following while researching another family name, which I did successfully trace to the 1600s.

How could there be no Badalamenti surnames in the Early Carini GEDCOM (1538-1777) file, but many Badaramenti names, and conversely no "Badaramenti" names in the 1826-1910 baptism file, while there are numerous Badalamenti names there?

I'm assuming that the GEDCOM's Badalamenti names have been changed to Badaramenti, but perhaps there's another explanation.

The priest attempted to record even the surnames in latin..........as in Badaramenti / Badalamenti ..........you'll find this type of discrepancy in many cases. If you go to the Carini Exchange vital records site you'll find, under extractions, a document that lists the surnames translated from Latin to Sicilian, submitted by Michel Alcamo.
