My grandmother and uncles never referred to my grandfather's brother by name, only by the title of "The General". I believe, however, his real name was Giuseppe Randazzo of Carini (b, 1894), son of Giuseppe Randazzo and Giuseppa Cusumano. My grandfather was his younger brother Giosue (Josue) Randazzo. A story passed on to our family was that after Italy joined the Allied side during WWII, General Randazzo was captured by the Germans. He was placed before a firing squad, but was fortunately recognized by a German officer and was thus saved. The part about being a General is true. I can't verify the second part of the story; however, it makes for a nice family legend to pass to future generations.
